The Veredus Vita Steel1 is a stirrup whose inner arch is made of steel and whose outer arch is made of a flexible techno-polymer. That outer arch can give way in every direction, so that, according to Veredus, the foot comes free quickly. The tread works with separate grip rings rather than fixed pins, and those can be replaced. Made for riders who want a stirrup with a release function without a hinge or a spring.
About this stirrup
The Vita Steel1 is built from two different parts. The inner arch is steel and forms the load-bearing part of the stirrup. The outer arch is made of a special techno-polymer that Veredus describes as flexible through 360 degrees: it can bend in every direction. That is what the brand means by the foot coming free quickly. How much force that takes, and whether the arch then returns to shape by itself, is not documented by Veredus; we therefore make no claim about it.
The eye the stirrup leather runs through is set at an angle. The stirrup therefore does not hang flat against the saddle, but at an angle in which you place your foot more easily. For anyone who mounts and dismounts often, or who has to find a stirrup again quickly after a fence, that is a detail that counts in practice.
According to Veredus, the tread has an incline of its own and is fitted with grip rings. That is a different approach from fixed metal pins: the rings sit separately in the tread surface and are available as a spare part. Underneath them sit drainage holes, meant to let sand coming off the sole of your boot fall through the tread. In a sandy school, your tread surface keeps working for longer that way.
Because the outer arches and the grip rings exist as separate parts, the Vita Steel1 is a stirrup you maintain rather than replace. Veredus supplies a kit for that with two techno-polymer outer arches (left and right), ten small and six large grip rings, and an Allen key. That kit comes in several colours, which lets you change the look of the stirrup without altering anything about the construction.
With us, the Vita Steel1 comes in three finishes: Black, Bordeaux and Pink. Veredus gives no weight, no tread width, no country of production and no standard with a number. There is also no official mention of a patent, of a shock-absorbing system or of a stated load capacity. What stands above is what the brand documents itself; the rest we deliberately leave open.
