The Heiniger Saphir #10 blade set clips at 1.5 mm and is the standard blade set for short, even clipping. You snap it onto a Heiniger Saphir or Opal without tools. At 1.5 mm you leave a short but not bare coat, which makes it usable both on the body and for tidying up details.
About this blade set
This blade set works on the snap-on principle: the top blade and the bottom blade sit in the head as one unit. There is nothing to unscrew and you do not have to adjust the blade tension. One set clicks off and another clicks on, which keeps changing cutting height easy during a clip.
The #10 is the most used cutting height in the Heiniger range. At 1.5 mm enough coat is left to avoid clipping the horse bare, while it is short enough to let a sweating horse dry quickly. For comparison: the #15 clips at 1.2 mm and the #9 at 2.0 mm.
This version has a standard width. It steers around the shapes of the horse more easily than a wide blade set. If you want to cover large areas faster, the same cutting height of 1.5 mm also exists in the wide #10WF, which covers the same surface in fewer passes.
Check which system your clipper uses before you order. Snap-on blade sets fit the Heiniger Saphir and the Heiniger Opal, which are interchangeable with each other. They do not fit a Heiniger Xperience, Xplorer or Progress: those work with separate screw-on blades, a different and non-interchangeable system.
